The Half Day Canyoning Experience

The Wild Sky Half Day Canyoneering Adventure is for those who want to get their feet wet and see what it is like to move through beautiful canyon terrain without having to commit to a full day experience.

This half day trip is still challenging, but appropriate for beginners who are excited to try new things. The canyons in this adventure  feature 2-4 rappels under 30 feet, short swims (unless you request more swimming) and protected downclimbs. We will be hiking and moving for the 4 hours  of  the adventure.

All participants must be physically and mentally prepared for four hours of hiking, swimming and rappelling in awe inspiring and pristine natural environments. Canyoneering is a rewarding, but mentally and physically challenging activity.

Trip Breakdown:

The day starts when you meet your guide in North Bend at 8am. After a short drive you  will arrive at the trailhead.  Here, you will gear up and receive an in-depth safety briefing.

The adventure begins  with a short hike on an established trail. While  this activity is appropriate for young children they will need to be able to hike with some autonomy because parents will be carrying backpacks with canyoning gear in them.

Once you arrive at the canyon you will put on your wetsuit, store your personal gear in dry buckets provided by Wild Sky, and prepare your technical equipment before descending into the canyon.

There are several options for the half day canyoneering  adventure. Your  guide will evaluate  the makeup of  your  group and local conditions to decide which canyon to descend.

Each canyon features stunning waterfalls, shorter rappels, and beautiful scenery. Expect to be impressed.

Our  tours are remote, so you shouldn't expect to  see  other parties in the  canyon.
After finishing the canyon you will change out of your wetsuit and back into the dry clothes that were stored  in your  dry bucket.

From here it is a short walk to the trailhead. Once you reach your car, you will towel off and change into  the dry clothes that you  left in your  car.

Now it is time to go  through your bags and separate out your personal equipment from the Wild  Sky gear. Your guide will have a tarp on the ground where you can leave all the  Wild Sky gear.

Make sure to double check that you removed all personal equipment from the Wild Sky backpacks!

From here it's a smile and gratitude that we made some great memories!  Your guide will wish you well, and if you choose to you can leave them a tip as  a thank you for a job well done!

After cleaning and hanging up to dry all of the Wild Sky gear; your guide will begin to upload all of the photos taken during the  day to the Wild Sky Google Photos account.

Please be patient because sometimes this process can take up to 72 hours. Service can be spotty in the mountains and guides often are staying in Snoqualmie Pass for the summer. If you haven't received your pictures within 72 hours please contact info@wildskyguides.com we will make sure to get you your pictures.

Once you have your pictures we encourage you to leave us a review on Trip Advisor! We would love to hear  from you!

A trip with Wild Sky is an all inclusive experience. Our lead guides have been trained to the highest standards of internationally recognized certifications. They are trained Wilderness First Responders who always carry an extensive First Aid Kit and emergency communication equipment.

When you book a trip with us we will provide you with all the gear needed to move through the canyon. We will fit you with an industry leading quick-dry wetsuit from Seland, a harness with attached carabiners and rappel device, a helmet, a backpack and a dry bucket to store your food.

The most important thing that you can bring on a Wild Sky adventure is a Positive Attitude and a readiness to exert yourself physically for the day.

Canyon appropriate clothes includes lightweight, non-cotton, long pants, a non-cotton shirt, and a pair of durable shoes with good grip (vibram soles preferable) that you don't mind getting wet!

To keep your attitude positive and your body moving you are going to want to bring enough food and at least 2 liters of water to keep you on the move for the duration of your adventure.

At Wild Sky we understand that life is messy and things can change. We have designed our cancellation policy to be fair to our valued customers, but allows us to provide some certainty in our guide schedule. Cancellation Policy: More than 7 days before trip begins: Full Refund. Less than 7 days: Wild Sky Credit.

Please bring an extra pair of glasses or contacts with you on your trip. Leave them in your dry bucket so that you have them if you lose yours in the canyon. Please bring glasses straps to secure your glasses in the canyon.

Prior experience canyoneering is not necessary for any of our adventure challenges.

The Canyon Adventure Challenge and the Weekend Escapes! were designed with beginners in mind!

The High Adventure Challenge is also appropriate for beginners, but the challenge requires more resiliency and  physical fitness than the other trips. Honestly evaluate yourself and every member of the trip before signing up for this challenge if you have never been canyoneering before.

Seattle area Wild Sky Challenges meet up outside of North Bend at 8:30 AM.

We have designed our challenges to last around 6 - 8 hours, so expect to finish around 2:30 - 4:30 PM.

Tips are not mandatory, but are very much appreciated by your guides.

Guiding is considered a service industry profession. Most people tip around the same percentage as they would tip at a restaurant.
