Summer 2026 PNW Canyoning Swiftwater Canyoning Course Schedule.

2026 Course Schedule: The Lineup is Here!

hope you are all well and getting excited for the upcoming summer season! We have been hard at work planning our 2026 calendar, and we are stoked to finally share the lineup with you.

Whether you are looking to take your first steps into a canyon, transition your skills from the desert, or you’re a seasoned pro looking to refine your rescue chops, we have a challenge waiting for you.

Here is the breakdown of what’s coming up this summer.

Wild Sky Guides 2025 CSWR Course.

CSWR: Canyoning Swiftwater Rescue

What: Canyoning Swiftwater Rescue Course.
Who: Intermediate to Advanced Canyoners.

Where: Hager Canyon, Gifford Pinchot National Forest

When: June 5-7th and 12-14th, 2026.

These courses are a blast and tend to fill up fast! The CSWR is designed for competent canyoneers who want to be an asset to their team when things go sideways in the water. We focus on hydrology, entrapment management, and the specific rescue techniques needed for our aquatic environment.

Important Note: To respect the high level of skill of the participants and ensure everyone gets the most out of the training, we require application videos. We want to see your ability to improvise and your familiarity with rescue skills before you show up. It helps us hit the ground running (or swimming!) on day one.

Intro to PNW Canyoning

Who: Beginner Canyoners.

Where: Hager Canyon, Gifford Pinchot National Forest

When: June 20-24th 2026.

If you are new to the sport or looking to transition from dry canyons to the aquatic canyons of the Pacific Northwest, this is for you.

This course spans five days, covering the essential topics you need to navigate our unique environment: risk management, meteorology, materials and equipment, knots, rigging, rappelling, canyon progression, and effective teamwork strategies.

What we cover:

  • Rigging & Knots: You will learn fundamental knots and gain hands-on experience rigging both static and releasable anchor systems.

  • Technical Skills: We thoroughly address rappelling techniques and safety backup systems.

  • Team Dynamics: We emphasize the value of teamwork and the concept of “followership”—knowing how to best support your team.

  • Canyon Progression: Strategies for moving efficiently through the canyon as a unit.

Our goal is to produce safe, knowledgeable team members who know how to best help their canyoning team progress through Pacific Northwest Canyons.

Desert to PNW: Partnership with Wasatch Mountain School

Who: Beginner to Intermediate Canyoners.

Where: Hager Canyon, Gifford Pinchot National Forest

Beginner Course: June 26-28th.

Intermediate Course: July 27 – 29th.

We are excited to continue our partnership with Wasatch Mountain School. This collaboration brings together the best of two worlds: the technical precision of Utah’s slot canyons and the dynamic power of the Pacific Northwest.

This course is the bridge for desert rats who want to get wet. If you are comfortable in the high-friction sandstone of Utah but want to tackle the Cascades, you need a new toolkit. The game changes when you add cold water and slippery rock.

Which trip is for you?

  • The Beginner Course (June 26-28): This is the “Welcome to the Wet” course. If you are solid in dry canyons but new to aquatic ones, start here. We cover the basics of moving in a wetsuit, dealing with noise, and Class C movement.

  • The Intermediate Course (July 27-29): This is the 3-Day Skill Transfer. We take your existing high-level canyon skills and translate them for the aquatic environment. It’s intensive, focusing on the subtle but critical differences in rigging, movement, and leadership between the desert and the PNW.
