What is our connection to cep?
Wild Sky Adventure Guides was started by Sam Keller, a CEP alumni from the class of ‘08. He even has a tattoo of the CEP tree on his shoulder! Sam took up canyoneering soon after leaving the UW and has been guiding in various locations his entire professional life. You can read more about his biography here. Sam always felt a close connection to Roz, and when he heard about the CEP memorial fund he knew that he wanted to do something to support her legacy. During his time at CEP he experienced crisis multiple times and Roz was always there to help, it is fitting that her CEP legacy is helping students in need.
What is swiftwater canyoneering?
What is swiftwater canyoneering? It is an adventure sport that has rapidly been growing in popularity in the PNW. The sport entails descending a canyon while utilizing multiple methods. This can entail jumping into a puddle or rappelling down a waterfall.
Most people have no clue what canyoneering is. Maybe they have seen pictures of rappelling in red rock in Utah. In the PNW canyoneering is about rappelling down waterfalls and getting beautiful unique perspectives of the beauty and power of nature.
Canyoneering entails much more than just waterfall rappelling. On our canyoneering tour we will hike, scramble, downclimb (on rope) and rappel.
Canyoneering is a fantastic opportunity to discover and experience the familiar forests of the PNW from an entirely different angle. Wild Sky trips take you to destinations that are only accessible through canyoneering.
Why you should try Canyoneering
You should try canyoneering because it’s a unique and challenging experience that’s different from anything you’ve ever done. Think about it—canyoneering takes you into some of the most beautiful and remote areas in nature You’ll get to explore places that are inaccessible any other way, and you’ll be able to see things that most people will never get to see.
Canyoneering is a fun and exciting way to spend a day. It’s physically demanding, but it’s also a lot of fun. You’ll be climbing, rappelling, swimming, and sliding down waterfalls. Canyoneering is a fun and exciting way to spend a day raising money for a worthy cause!
